Our UK Portfolio Management team
Our Portfolio Management team operate out of the Wolverhampton office primarily but travel extensively throughout the UK.
Originally from Aberdeen, Sandy headed for the bright lights of London in 1968, where he worked for the Home Office. Later the same year, he embarked on his financial services career with Scottish Widows. In 1971, Sandy became a co-founder member of Hambro Life, later to become Allied Dunbar, now branded as Prudential. There, he was responsible for the management of the sales team whom he nurtured for many years to come.
His career then took an independent turn, with him becoming an Independent Financial Adviser in 1982, a role that has remained with him ever since. With over 45 years of personal experience in financial services, Sandy is well positioned to offer advice on a plethora of finance-orientated subject matters, including wealth management, tax matters and pension transfers, including those related to defined benefit (‘DB’) pensions, for which he is one of a few advisers authorised by the FCA.
Living and working in Wolverhampton during all of this time, Sandy enjoys most sports and has a very keen interest in football (season ticket holder at West Bromwich Albion), as well as both greyhound and horse racing. He is a family man and is still close to his brother, Norman Baker, the former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Minister for the Department of Transport.
Like Sandy, Fiona possesses a wealth of knowledge in the Financial Services sector, beginning her career in 1985 with Albany Life (now part of Canada Life) where she ‘cut her teeth’ in direct sales. With her involvement in the business beginning in 1989, Fiona is an Independent Financial Adviser but is also responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, as well as fulfilling a role in Compliance.
Fiona maintains a healthy lifestyle, attending the gym regularly and swimming with her daughter. She has travelled to many places worldwide and is an accomplished skier.
Tony studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford, graduating in 1964. As a post-graduate student, he left for the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1965 to read International Relations. Joining Citibank in 1965 and then running his own business, he met Sandy in 1977 and became an Associate with Hambro Life until 1982 when he again followed Sandy to become an Independent Financial Adviser in Wolverhampton, where he has remained every since.
Thanks to his 35 years plus of experience, Tony’s areas of specialism are widespread and include company and group pension schemes, in addition to tax-related affairs. In line with his classical roots, Tony often returns to Bologna and has a keen interest in opera and languages, especially Italian.
Our consultant for ICT, Richard’s experience in financial services dates back to 1988 when he joined Prudential as a Trainee Broker Consultant. Since that time, Richard has gained considerable experience in the ICT field which, when combined with his knowledge of business and financial services, places him in an ideal position to offer support to the business in a wide ranges of functions.
Richard is a regular gym attender and is a passionate season ticket holder at Derby County, his home-town club. Having gained a degree in French at the University of Birmingham, he often returns to his beloved France with his young family to revisit the many friends made during his year-long stay in 1986 to 1987.
